What is IR2110?
The IR2110 is a high voltage, high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT drivers with independent high and low side referenced output channels. Proprietary HVIC and latch immune CMOS technologies enable ruggedized monolithic construction. Logic inputs are compatible with standard CMOS or LSTTL output, down to 3.3V logic.
What is high and low side driver?
A high side driver is one in which the switching element is between Vcc and the load. A low side driver is one in which the switching element is between the load and common. A self-contained load such as a DC motor, solenoid/relay, light or LED string, can usually be driven by either method.
What is Mosfet driver IC?
A MOSFET driver is a type of power amplifier that accepts a low-power input from a controller IC and produces a high-current drive input for the gate of a high-power transistor such as an Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) or power MOSFET.
What is IR2113?
The IR2113 are high voltage, high speed power MOSFET and IGBT drivers with independent high and low side referenced output channels. The floating channel can be used to drive an N-channel power MOSFET or IGBT in the high side configuration which operates up to 500 or 600 volts.
How do you choose between high side and low side switching?
So when you have a load that requires ground, you NEED to use a high-side switch. As a quick rule of thumb, if you are turning a device on and off, a low-side switch is a simple solution. However, if you are delivering power to an entire circuit or a voltage sensitive device, then you want to use a high-side switch.
Do I need Mosfet driver?
A MOSFET usually needs a gate driver to do the on/off operation at the desired frequency. For high frequencies, MOSFETs require a gate drive circuit to translate the on/off signals from an analog or digital controller into the power signals necessary to control the MOSFET.
