Is fingerstyle easy?
Fingerstyle definitely can be hard but that mainly depends on what kind of a player you are. If you’re mainly an electric guitar player and you use a pick, you’ll probably have a hard time with fingerstyle at first. It’s definitely a technique worth learning, though. Fingerstyle is easier.
Can you teach yourself fingerstyle guitar?
It’s a lot harder than starting with basic guitar training, but all you really need to add is some right hand technique. I recommend starting with some basic training first. It wouldn’t take long though, a week or two of guitar basics would be more than enough to build a foundation to then start playing Fingerstyle.

There really is no absolute in terms of whether to learn fingerstyle or pick style first. However, if you are a beginner, at first, you will need to spend most of your time developing your left hand by playing chords and single note melodies. The right hand can then be more fully developed later.
