Is Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains closed?
Cades Cove is open year round from sunrise to sunset, weather permitting. The Cades Cove Loop Road is closed on Wednesdays to all vehicle traffic from May 5th through September 1st. This provides bicyclists and pedestrians the opportunity to explore the Cove without vehicles.

Admission is free. Cades Cove features an 11-mile, paved loop road around the cove. A self-guiding auto tour booklet is available for $1 at loop road entrance.
Are the leaves changing at Cades Cove?
The changes start at the higher elevations (above 5,000 ft.) about the first of October and will work its way down to the lower elevations in late October to early November. The best places to see color are Newfound Gap Road, Cades Cove Loop Road and Little River Road.

The best times to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park are the summer (June, July and August) and the fall. July is the busiest month of the summer season while October weekends draw those in search of autumn foliage.
