Jack the Box host Bobby Starrr welcomes back resident DJ UPI for a Live and interactive session from Berlin's Yuma and Helsinki. Tune IN! Wednesday at 20:00, or Thursday for the repeat.
Live In House Guest:
DJ UPI (Sonic Reservoir / Club Hertz / Helsinki, Finland)
Alongside residencies at Club Hertz where Upi (Sonic Reservoir) fills the stage together with acts like Jori Hulkkonen and Villa Nah he also deejays regularly at Club Model in Bassment, Helsinki. Model hosts acts like Luomo, or Phonogenic.
In 2010 he placed second in "Movida Corona" dj competition in Finland. Upi has played around Finland's finest clubs as a resident & guest DJ and thrown a couple of sets abroad in places like Berlin, Tokyo and Goa.
"I played drums, piano & the Finnish national instrument kantele for many years before finding the art of deejaying and I hope you can still hear some vibes from those times in my sets."
Upi always plans a few set list kinda scenarios for the night. "When I get there I'll combine the scenarios depending on the atmosphere. The result is usually something between modern & techy deep house and minimal with some disco vibes wrapped around it. It smells like Berlin and hopefully has the heat of Southern Europe."
On some special occasions Upi has played something else too: A good example is a d'n'b set in Kuudes Linja (Helsinki) in the summer of 2010 and many nights of residency in the weekly KELA club in the legendary underground venue Redrum (Helsinki). "KELA was a mixture of dubstep, bassline house and many other genres as well as Cloud 9 in Playground & Redrum.
