Throne of Blood Records started in Dec 2006 as a joint venture between The Rapture and NYC-based DJ, James F!@#$%^Friedman. Initially created as a venue for releasing remix singles off The Raptures 2006 album Pieces of the People We Love, Throne of Blood has grown into a full service, digital and physical imprint distributed worldwide via Kompakt.

Early releases included The Rapture's "Get Myself Into It" and "W.A.Y.U.H," featuring remixes from Simian Mobile Disco, Claude Von Stroke, SebastiAn, Serge Santiago and Prince Language. The LP version of "Pieces of the People We Love" soon followed. A third remix 12" of "The Sound" featuring Ben Rymer and Max Pask remixes was pressed and never released when then-distributor Amato folded.

In the summer of 2008 the label came roaring back to life with a new distribution deal and new releases in the pipeline for a roster of artists which had grown to include Philly-bred, New York-based up and comer Dances With White Girls and prog superheroes Zombi. Enter DWWG's "New Crack Swing" EP and Zombi's "Sapphire" 12" featuring NYC disco supergroup Escort on remix duties.

In 2009 Throne of Blood continued to push forward with the gorgeous "Shake The Snow" single from John Selway and geared up for an explosive 2010.

Over the last year and a half, Throne of Blood has released singles from Populette, AKA JK, Mugwump, Harkin & Raney, Bibi Tanga & The Selenites, Irish upstarts Bicep, and remixes from TBD, Harkin & Raney, Populette, KIM, Neurotic Drum Band, Runaway, Master Khan, Tim Goldsworthy, Classixx, and Mark Verbos.
2011 is shaping up to be the year that Throne of Blood really makes it mark. The year's first release was the tremendous "Acid Reflux" from NDB's Ulysses, complete with a 10 minute cosmic acid epic by Prins Thomas. The spring saw releases from LA duo Cosmic Kids (backed by tremendous mixes by Juan Maclean, Bicep and Classixx), Leeds-based duo Ford Inc (Paul Woolford & Mat Playford), and Bicep. The rest of of the year sees releases from Harkin & Raney, Saarid, Remain & Mlle Caro making their Throne of Blood debut, OneAuff, Populette and more. September 2011 will also mark the launch of Let's Play House, a brand new sublabel which debuts with a 12" from NYC disco dons, Runaway.
