Jackmode Show with Camel

Written by  Dizzy

Italian based Camel shares his inspirations in front of his appearance on the Jackmode Show airing Saturday night at 22:00 on Sweat Lodge.

Who are you?
Andrea Maver aka Camel

Where are you from?
I'm originally from Sardinia, a little paradise in the middle of Mediterranean sea, but have been living in Bologna for over 10 years now.

What do you do?

I'm producer & dj. I started producing at 16 with different a.k.a, Camel is just my last project I like both aspect of my work; for sure it's more exiting to play in front of a big warm crowd, but studio work is really important for me to focus on new ideas and new sounds.

When and where was your best gig?
Every gig is an incredible experience for me. I love seeing people dancing to my music.  One of my favourite gigs this year was Club Bonsoir with Round Table Knights!

Who is your all time musical hero?

No doubt, Miles Davis. The genius.

Do you have a favourite place or somewhere where you get the best reaction?
There are few clubs & festivals all over the planet that I love... Fabric is one of them!

Is there an all-time favourite track you wish you'd produced?

I've never really wished I produced any track, but i have some favourite. Really hard to pick out just one... But ok, just to sort a few.. “ Dj Shadow- Midnight in a perfect world”, “Moodymann – All Over” and “Lil louis – French Kiss”. All MAW tracks. I hardly doubt I won't play them for years and years to come…

Which is more appealing to you while djing - to dig out a relatively old track, or play the newest release?

The mix of the two is what makes it. I have being collecting vinyl form a long time, so diggin out a cool old tune is important for me, as well as, playing fresh unreleased tracks. It is good see how the people reacts on my new sound.

Which is your personal favourite track that you’ve produced & why?

Tracks born in strange situation, as "Obrigado" in Istanbul with my macbook & headphones after a big storm!!! Bamboo was born on the train while travelling back from a gig in Switzerland.

What do you have going on for the rest of the year?

Now i'm very excited about my gigs in Canada this week. As always I am working on a bunch of projects at the same time. In the coming months there will be something new for you to hear. Few remixes and some new EPs coming soon. Stay tuned!!!
